KEYS Azalea Completes Ship-to-Ship LNG Bunkering for bulk carrier in Japan

On July 11th, KEYS Azalea, the LNG bunkering vessel owned and operated by KEYS Bunkering West Japan Ltd. bunkered LNG for the bulk carrier CAPE HAYATE1 operated by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.(“K”LINE) by Ship-to-Ship2 at the port of Fukuyama. This was the first LNG bunkering for vessels operated by “K”LINE.


KEYS will continue providing safe and stable LNG bunkering for LNG fueled vessels and contribute to forming a carbon-neutral society, and developing the LNG bunkering business in Japan.



1 CAPE HAYATE
The capesize bulk carrier operated by “K” LINE for JFE Steel Corporation, equipped with a dual-fuel diesel engine that utilizes LNG as its primary fuel. “K” LINE will install “Seawing”, an automated kite system utilizing wind power.

2 Ship-to-ship
A method to supply LNG fuel, by directly connecting a hose from bunkering vessel to the receiving vessel.
